Since today is Earth Day/Good Friday I thought about one thing eco~fashion. Then I thought about whose my favorite designer and guess who popped right out Ms. Stella McCartney? She’s been a green member across the fashion community for years. We’ve all heard of her amazing contributions she‘s done for the world by using eco~friendly products. It’s a pleasure to present her today because I admire what’s she’s done for a community that isn’t easy to come by. I’ve been a believer of clean living and eating for the past four years. I’m just starting to find eco~friendly clothing where I live, and I’ve changed my eating habits and came up with ways on how I could help our planet.
It’s a big world and by changing to eco/green items helps keep our planet staying beautiful. I’m not sure when this wave of energy moved within me, but after changing my diet and leaving certain things alone I could see a big difference. Also I’ve even changed my outlook on animals, I’ve chosen to stay away from real fur items. Plus I leave all leather goods on the shelf, and I can’t even deal with red meat or dairy products. But I must say it’s been amazing to see a community band together for the cause of animal rights. Over the years I’ve seen a lot of PETA ads and the ideas they come up with is clever and I consider them strong contenders in how we should change.
But let me introduce to you a designer that’s creatively eccentric yet stylish. Stella McCartney is an innovative thinker she likes to change how we see and wear things, she’s not your average designer. Her idea of a dress is completely amazing because she scope the design as playful art. Because all of her works of art is 100% free from leather and fur which is why she’s a contender in the green community.
When it comes to labels and tags we rarely understand the actual stuff our clothes are made with. Our clothes are made up of material that’s either Cotton or Polyester and from the occasional countries. But did you know that many of our clothes have other stuff that’s not friendly for our planet. But there are ways to notice if it’s an eco~friendly item, there’s usually a tag labeled eco~friendly. I’ve come across a few over the years and I love the way each item feel they’re extremely soft and indeed colorful. Also many contain organic silks/cotton, and fabrics made from recycled materials, it’s such a chic way to look great.
With any Stella McCartney designs you’ll know why she’s the best, and let’s overlook the fact that she’s the daughter of a beetle (Paul McCartney). Let’s look at her newest spring ready~to~wear collection you’ll notice her take on simplicity and colors. This collection screamed WEAR US, because she made citrus wearable need I say more? Also this collection was filled with colorful patterns and soft pastel touches, with a side of savvy denim. This collection updated the tailored suits and the spilt level dresses made it a front~runner for the 2011 spring/summer trends.
Then we have the 2011 ready~to~wear fall collection, and each look was sultry yet simple. She mixed wild circles with two basic colors black and white which made it iconic. These dresses were flirty and classy and Kate Winslet rocked out with one. Many eco~friendly fans love wearing and supporting Stella’s designs but she’s made a big splash with celebrities. Celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Naomi Watts, Rihanna, and Kate Moss just to name a few. The list could literally go on, and since the 2001 launch of the S.M. brand it’s been her vision all the way.
With a mind of an eco~fashionista she’s made her mark in many areas and will continue to launch brands like CARE by Stella McCartney, it’s a luxury organic skincare line that caters to the sensitive skin types. Her next creation was to tackle kid’s fashions. It was the debut of Stella McCartney Kids featuring kid friendly looks that’s creative and cute. “I wanted to use prints that would appeal to kids, such as animals, rainbows, and nature” she stated and I must say there are some very cute items. The whole collection was launched in March and it received rave reviews among mother’s and fashion critics.
Lastly she’s dedicated an entire section on her website to the Green Me world. It includes eco~friendly tips and you can join the Meat-Free Monday team, I know it’s a big step to leave any meat alone but it’s so worth it. I’m more of a sugar-free going into vegan but still love chicken type of a person. But I consider it a real lifestyle dynamic, eating differently is a task that takes a lot of self-control. But in the end it’s worth it, and if you feel and look good then that’s all that matters.
Overall I’m celebrating this Earth Day with some eco~fashion savvy clothes, and making sure I look great!
