There’s A Brand New Collaboration Embracing Itself Next Week!
One of my fave music artists and fave designers has finally teamed up together, to create something amazing and off the wall. Indeed it’s about time these two worked together since they have such similar aesthetics. Like the recognized prints and unbelievable attitude for style. Yet these two have always captivated us either with her music or the runway, it’s a swag match made in fashion heaven.
So here’s the scoop on the Versus x M.I.A. collaboration from what I’ve read lately, the launch will debut online next Wednesday October 16, 2013. So it’s in full gear plus the site is already, giving us a great idea of what her capsule collection will display. The theme is all about Knocks-off or counterfeit designs that’s been copied versions of Versace from the streets. It’s a interesting concept that other major designers probably would have never tried it.
But this is Donatella Versace’s world and she’s a pretty open minded fashionista. M.I.A. and Donatella have been friends for years so I think this was a collaboration that needed to be done. Only because their both creative people with similar backgrounds when it comes to artsy designs.
With this collection it will feature 19 items for men and womenswear. Showcasing the many prints of Versace, and the flair of M.I.A.’s culture like the Sanskrit prints and street wear approach. It looks like something trending right now and has a fab way of personality mixed in.
I’ve been a fan of M.I.A. music for years and her way of mixing sounds + her rapping style. Plus we all can’t deny songs like Paper Planes or Bad Girl those are funky singles that I play a lot. So I’m excited to even see what shows up on the site next week. I’m finding fashion collaborations getting better each year, it’s almost ideal and worth partnering up with either other brands, celebs, or musicians.
From WWD site here’s what M.I.A said about the idea of creating this collection came from: “When I was contacted by Versace, it seemed a great idea to invert the circle. Versace’s designs have always been copied, now it’s Versace that copies the copies, so those that copy must copy the copies. So this will continue.
So far it’s looking pretty iconic just with patterns alone.
I love anything different with how we wear prints in fashion, hopefully this collection looks just as great at the previews.
